A budget that plans ahead.
Envelope budgeting, end-to-end encrypted. Assign the money you have, watch each envelope as you spend, and see it all next to your investments - without handing anyone your bank login.
Envelopes
Decide what your money does before the month starts.
Assign what you have into envelopes, spend against them, and always know what is actually left. When plans change, move money between envelopes - the plan bends without breaking.
- Available to Assign keeps the unallocated pot honest
- Per-envelope progress: assigned, spent, and left
- Move money between envelopes without losing the totals
- Month by month, on your existing accounts and categories
Spending
Know where it went - and where it goes next.
Income and expenses across every account and card, categorised and rolled up month to month. The budget tells the money where to go; the wallet shows it listened.
- Income vs expenses, month by month
- Categories, accounts, cards, and transfers
- Savings rate and cash flow at a glance
- One net worth: budget, cash, and portfolio together
Why budgeters switch
Budgeting should not cost you your banking password.
Most budget apps are bank aggregators with a UI. Turbobulls does envelope budgeting on data you control - imported from statements or entered directly, encrypted before it is stored.
Bank-linked budget apps
Want your online-banking credentials and read every transaction you make. The category suggestions are free; your spending profile pays for them.
Spreadsheets
Work until month three. Then a vacation, a shared card, and a second currency arrive - and the formulas quietly stop matching reality.
Standalone budget apps
Track your spending but have no idea you own a portfolio. Your net worth lives in two apps that never talk to each other.
How it works
From first envelope to steady months in four steps.
Set up accounts and categories
Cash, bank accounts, credit cards - and the spending categories you actually use. Card debt counts against net worth automatically.
Assign the money you have
Give the money already in your accounts to envelopes - rent, groceries, fun. Available to Assign shows the honest unallocated remainder.
Spend and watch envelopes drain
Every expense draws down its envelope. You always know what is actually left - not what the month started with.
Move money when plans change
Overspent on dining? Move what is left from travel. The budget bends without breaking - and the totals stay honest.
The numbers that matter
A budget is only as good as its honesty.
These are the numbers Turbobulls keeps truthful for you, month after month.
Available to Assign
The one number envelope budgeting runs on: money you have that has not been given a purpose yet.
Left per envelope
Assigned minus spent, per category, per month - the glanceable answer to "can we order in tonight".
Monthly cash flow
Income against expenses, month over month, so you can see whether the budget holds or leaks.
Savings rate
The share of income that survives the month - tracked over time, next to your investing.
Debt-aware net worth
Credit cards count as debt everywhere they should: net worth, the debt figure, and the budget itself.
Encrypted, like everything
Budget envelopes and transactions are encrypted on your device - your spending is nobody’s dataset.

FAQ
Answers to common questions.
What is envelope budgeting?
You take the money you actually have and assign it to purpose-built envelopes - rent, groceries, fun - before the month spends it for you. Spending draws envelopes down, and Available to Assign always shows what has not been allocated yet. It turns "where did it go" into "this is where it goes".
Do I have to connect my bank account?
No, and we never ask. You add transactions manually or import bank statement files (CSV) that are parsed in your browser and encrypted before anything is stored. Your banking credentials stay with your bank.
How are credit cards handled?
As debt - which sounds obvious, but most trackers get it wrong. Card balances count against your net worth, show up in your debt figure, and are respected by the budget.
What happens when I overspend a category?
The envelope shows the overspend honestly, and you cover it by moving money from an envelope that still has slack. Moving money between envelopes never changes your totals - it just reallocates the plan.
Does the budget work with my investments?
That is the point of having both in one app: your budget, cash accounts, and portfolio roll up into a single net worth and financial-health picture. Savings rate and cash flow sit right next to your returns.
Is my spending data private?
Every transaction and envelope is encrypted on your device with AES-256 before it reaches our servers - we store ciphertext only. The budget is also part of your encrypted backup and Excel export, and restores with the rest of your data.
