Turbobulls vs Spendee

Turbobulls encrypts on your device, so your spending and your portfolio sit in one account we cannot read. That choice is also why we cannot connect to your bank and Spendee can, and why Spendee costs less. Whether that trade is worth it is the whole question.

14 days of everything · Then a permanent free plan · Nothing deleted, export always included

The short answer

Turbobulls if you hold investments and want them tracked beside your spending, in an account no server can read.

Spendee for tracking spending: it connects to your bank, costs a fraction of what we do, and its free plan does more budgeting than ours.

Spending, cash flow and investments on one screen. Demo data.

End-to-end
Encrypted on your device with AES-256 before it syncs. Your financial data reaches us as ciphertext.
Both sides
Envelope budgeting and a full portfolio in one account, reported as one net worth.
Free plan
Permanent, no card, nothing deleted. Capped, and smaller than Spendee’s on budgeting.
€2.99
Spending Pro per month billed yearly, for the spending side on its own. Turbo Pro at €6.66/mo opens both sides, and the free plan below it needs no card and never expires.

Which one fits you?

Three questions, and on this page the answer is Spendee more often than not.

1 · What are you tracking?
2 · How should spending get in?
3 · What decides it on price?

Answer the three questions and a recommendation appears here.

Side by side

Spendee details are from its own site, pricing and bank-connect pages as read in August 2026. Where a page does not describe something, this table says so rather than treating silence as absence. The Turbobulls column describes Turbo Pro, the plan that carries both sides.

Operated by SPENDEE a.s. from Prague, Czech Republic.

Where they differ
Getting spending in
File import and manual entry. Adapters for ING Romania, Raiffeisen Romania, Salt Bank and Revolut personal, plus a generic CSV mapper. No bank connections at all.
Connects to more than 2500 financial providers worldwide, listed across Europe, the Americas, Asia and Oceania, plus crypto and e-wallets. Bank sync is on the free tier.
Investments
A full portfolio tracker: holdings, cost basis, dividends, benchmarks and twelve analytics metrics, in the same account as the budget.
Not described anywhere we read.
Encryption
On-device AES-256-GCM, key derived from your password. Your portfolio and wallet data is stored as ciphertext.
Its bank-connect page has a security section, but published no detail we could find. Spendee’s own privacy policy and terms are the authority.
Sharing
Not offered. Your workspaces are yours alone, with no shared wallet for a couple or a household.
Shared wallets on the paid tiers, marketed for couples, families and roommates.
Platforms
An installable web app on iOS, Android and desktop, which works offline.
Native iOS and Android apps plus a web app. Its pricing page notes budgets are coming to web soon.
Free plan
Permanent and no card, but capped: 120 wallet transactions, 3 accounts, 10 categories, and budgeting is read-only.
Basic is free and includes one wallet, one budget and bank sync. Its pricing page states all plans come with a 7-day free trial.
Pricing
Turbo Pro is €6.66/mo billed yearly at €79.90, or €7.99/mo, and carries both sides. If budgeting is all you want from us, you do not have to buy the portfolio tracker with it: Spending Pro is €2.99 a month billed yearly at €35.90, and it leaves the investing side exactly at free-plan depth.
Plus USD 1.99/mo or 14.99/yr; Premium USD 5.99/mo or 35.99/yr, as listed in August 2026. A 7-day trial on paid plans, and prices may vary by country.

Prices are in different currencies and move with the exchange rate, so this page does not claim a percentage. What Premium adds over Plus was not established from the pricing page and is deliberately not described. Spendee may have changed since; its own pages are the authoritative source.

What the difference looks like

Three views from the app, on demo data. The demo is read-only and needs no signup.

The Budget screen for July 2026: 335.74 euro available to assign, a note that 1,227.11 euro covered last month's overspending, and a category table showing assigned, activity and available amounts per envelope, with Groceries overspent at minus 379.95
Budgeting

Envelopes, including the month they go wrong

Money assigned per category, with what is left tracked per envelope. This is a real July: four categories are over, and last month’s overspending of 1,227.11 has already come out of this month’s pool. Spendee budgets by category too, with a daily limit; the difference is what sits beside the budget rather than the budget itself.

Scope

The part Spendee is not built for

Income, expenses, savings rate and cash flow, reported against holdings as one net worth with a financial independence projection on top. Nothing we read describes portfolio tracking or net worth at Spendee, and this is the whole reason a Spendee user would move.

Privacy

What our database actually holds

We are not going to characterise Spendee’s security, because it publishes no detail we could find and guessing would be worse than saying nothing. What we can show is our own side. Flip the toggle: the action and the timestamp sit in the clear, and the part that would tell you anything is ciphertext. That is also why we cannot connect to your bank.

The long version

Everything behind the table, one topic at a time.

A spending tracker, and a tracker that also budgets

Spendee, operated by SPENDEE a.s. of Prague, is built around everyday spending. Connect your accounts, transactions arrive and categorise themselves, budgets warn you before you overspend, and shared wallets let a couple or a household run the same money together. It is mobile-first and it is inexpensive.

Turbobulls is a portfolio tracker that also budgets in envelopes, encrypted on your device so the server cannot read either half. Holdings, cost basis, dividends and returns sit in the same account as spending, salary, debt and cash, and net worth is reported across all of it.

If you are choosing a tool purely to track spending, Spendee costs less and takes the work out of getting the data in, and that is a strong case. This page exists for the narrower one: you also hold investments, and you would rather not keep them in a second product on a server that can read them. Everything Turbobulls gives up, the bank connections included, is the price of that one decision.

Where each one is weaker

On tracking spending, most of the weakness on this page is ours.

Turbobulls
  • No bank connections at all, against Spendee’s 2500+ providers
  • Every import is a file you export and upload yourself, once a month rather than continuously
  • Only a handful of banks and brokers are auto-detected; anything else means mapping the columns once
  • Turbo Pro costs substantially more than Spendee for anyone who only wants budgeting
  • Our free plan does less budgeting than Spendee’s free plan
  • No shared wallets for couples or households
  • An installable web app rather than native mobile apps
Spendee, per its public materials
  • No portfolio or investment tracking described
  • No net worth across holdings described
  • Budgets are noted as coming to web soon, so the web app trails the phone
  • Bank connections mean a server that can read your transactions

Read from Spendee’s own site, pricing and bank-connect pages in August 2026. A feature absent from a page is not the same as absent from the product, and this list says only what those pages describe.

What it costs

This is the section where we are the expensive option, and there is no way to present it otherwise. Both have a free tier, so the question is what paying buys.

Turbobulls
Spending Pro
€2.99per month for Spending Pro, billed yearly at €35.90

Or €3.59 a month billed monthly. Annual billing is two months free. Cancel anytime. That is the spending side bought on its own.

  • Unlimited accounts, spending entries and categories, with envelope budgeting you can actually edit
  • The investing side stays exactly at free-plan depth, never less. Paying for one side never takes the other away
  • Turbo Pro at €6.66 a month billed yearly at €79.90 opens both sides, portfolio tracker included
  • Encryption and export on every plan, free included
The free plan you land on

No time limit, no card, nothing deleted. Budgeting is read-only and the wallet caps at 120 transactions, 3 accounts and 10 categories, so as a budgeting tool alone it is smaller than Spendee’s free tier.

Start the 14-day trial

No card, and nothing to cancel if you stay on free.

Spendee
Cheaper
USD 1.99a month for Plus, or 14.99 a year

Premium is USD 5.99 a month or 35.99 a year. Both carry a 7-day trial. As listed in August 2026; the pricing page notes prices may vary by country.

  • Basic is free, with one wallet, one budget and bank sync
  • Bank sync included on every tier, free one included
  • Plus adds unlimited wallets and budgets, and shared wallets
  • What Premium adds over Plus was not clear from the pricing page, so we do not describe it

Prices are set by Spendee and can change. Its own pricing page is the authoritative source.

The two are quoted in different currencies and move with the exchange rate, so this page puts no percentage on the gap. The honest summary is that Spendee Plus costs a fraction of Turbo Pro and imports your spending automatically. What the difference buys is a portfolio tracker in the same account, and end-to-end encryption around both halves, so what our database holds is ciphertext rather than your finances. If neither of those is worth paying for, buy the cheaper thing.

Switching from Spendee

Spendee lists export on every tier including the free one, so start there: export your transactions and bring them in through the generic CSV adapter, mapping the columns yourself. The import preview marks duplicates before anything is written and the commit is atomic, so a bad file does not leave you half-imported.

Set your categories up before the first import rather than after. Both products budget by category, so the structure carries over conceptually even though the file will not carry it for you.

Plan for the part that will actually change: spending stops arriving on its own. If your bank is ING Romania, Raiffeisen Romania, Salt Bank or Revolut personal there is a dedicated adapter, and otherwise it is a monthly CSV export. That is a real habit to take on, and it is worth being sure the investing side is worth it to you before you do. Excel export from Turbobulls is on every plan, so nothing you put in is trapped either way.
